Glossary

It is assumed that the reader will already be familiar with most of the terms customarily found in Occult and Magical literature. However, some terms that the Fellowship has used are somewhat more specialised, or they are relatively common terms but used in a specific way by the Fellowship that may deviate from conventional usage.
This Glossary explains such of those terms as have been used on this website, and throughout the Fellowship's publications.

Goddess, The (alternatively, the Goddess-force)
A percipient force or entity, feminine in nature, that has defied closer identification. Communications from the Goddess seem to take the form of non-verbal telepathic images, urges and concepts that possess a distinctive "feel". These communications are generally validated by "independent external verification" (see below) within very short periods of time. The Will of the Goddess also appears to manifest by the manipulation of external events and circumstances. Although not invariably so, one of the hallmarks of a Goddess-inspired action is its "uncharacteristic" nature in relation to the personality and habits of the recipient.

High Priest(ess)
The Fellowship has never been particularly comfortable with what it regards as grandiose or pretentious terms, and in this instance it has customarily preferred the rather more humble "priest(ess)". That said, there were certain occasions in the early days of the Fellowship (whilst it was still the Circle of the Luna Light) when it seemed entirely appropriate that this terminology should be used, in the context of specific Temple workings. Similarly, although now largely fallen into disuse it is possible that there may be future occasions when the title could be deemed accurate in the event of highly structured rituals. Otherwise, "priest(ess)" should suffice though even this usage is now almost redundant, having to a large extent been supplanted by "druid". This is not to say that the two terms are regarded as interchangeable, or even equivalent - a question about which the Fellowship remains (as at time of writing) undecided.

Independent External Verification
A "test" developed by one of the Fellowship's founders which requires that before a series of "coincidences", "synchronicities", subjective experiences or apparently "supernatural" phenomena can be taken to indicate or possess a significance that extends beyond the events in themselves, they must be validated by a relevant occurrence in the "real world" over which observers could not reasonably be expected to have exerted any control or influence, and which usually appear in a manner that could not be or had not been anticipated.
